Kitchen Space !!!
Your kitchen is a social hangout where family interacts more than any other room in the house –
The importance of functionality, lighting, cabinet choices, appliances, sinks and tapware all play a part in creating the perfect kitchen space.
Sit up benches or window seats, office organiser cupboards, wine bars and entertainment systems are some of the things that can be integrated. To get the best out of your precious dollars, it is worth having a clear idea of what you want and want you need.
Functionality First –
“You’re working Triangle” The arrangement between the sink, the fridge and your cooking space. These area’s should be more or less equivalent to each other as they are the three points of the kitchens you will be repeatedly visiting.
Think about efficiency – how you will actually use your kitchen space. Even if you have a lot of room when planning and can make the distance between your island and the countertop bench larger, this is not always efficient. It can often make cooking and cleaning more difficult. Yes, you want your kitchen to feel open, airy and inviting, but you don’t want to have to walk 15 feet from the fridge to your cooking space.
Lighting for your Kitchen Space –
Lighting is one of the most important factors to consider when renovating or building a new kitchen space. Depending on your natural light, don’t forget cabinets can block light from falling onto your countertops. You don’t want your kitchen space to be dark and dreary.
Create a bright place that is easy to see what your cooking and maybe an option for additional mood lighting to create an enjoyable area when you are entertaining with friends. For example, down lights can create a bright space and some undercabinet lighting and pendant lights over your island bench can create your evening light for entertaining.
Stoves and Rangehoods –
Stoves can make a beautiful statement piece in your kitchen space. Now days, stoves come in a myriad of styles and colours giving you a range of different options.
It is always good to have space on either side of your stove, if possible, so you can have easy reach to prep and supplies.
Rangehoods have a crucial function in your kitchen space. You need to ventilate your kitchen when cooking. Some cooking smells need to be extracted and you don’t want any steam damage to your cabinetry.
One of the important features – often forgotten – is to check the noise level of your rangehood when turned on. If you entertain in your kitchen space, you don’t want to have to yell over your noisy rangehood.
Cabinets –
Cabinets are just cabinets, right? Wrong!
Your cabinets are an opportunity to inject style into your kitchen space and make your cooking process easy and efficient. For example, your colour choices can inject emotion. Your cabinet design choices can create a feeling. Your choice of no handles can create a streamline effect.
Draws are fabulous. Ergonomically friendly! They are easy to load and unload out of. Nothing gets stuck in the back. You can pull out your plates, pots and pans and even cups, rather than crouching down and reaching back. Quick kitchens cabinets
Sinks, Tapware and Dishwashers –
A water-mixing valve in your kitchen tap is a great option. Having separate handles for hot and cold can be a real pain. With a dirty pan in your hands you can easily flip the tap back and forth quickly.
Installing your dishwasher to the right side of your sink (most people are right handed) is the perfect place if possible. Easy to stack all the dishes that accumulate around the sink area, hence help keep your kitchen space tidy. Also, handy to have your cups, bowls and plates cupboard or draws close to the dishwasher for ease of unpacking these most common items.
